Mark Gilman, MA, Public Health Educator is a man with a mission. In his role as England's addiction recovery champion, it's his aim for the country's addiction treatment services to tap into what he sees as an underused resource: mutual aid groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. Recovery from addiction is providing solutions to much wider issues and speaks directly to Asset Based Community Development and "Big Society". Mark is becoming increasingly conscious of the contribution being made to recovery by faith based organizations. “I think this is as a result of the recognition of the need for many people seeking recovery to address matters of 'spirituality'. This may be as a result of my close professional proximity to members of 12 step fellowships (AA, NA, CA) as we develop TSF (Twelve Step Facilitation). I am looking forward to working within Public Health England to show how treatment systems that have a recovery orientation can also make a significant contribution to prevention and early intervention.” Mark Gillman specializes in Treatment as Prevention. Recovery. Asset Based Community Development. Linking secular and faith based communities in supporting long term recovery.
